Journal Journal: Can you repair the reflective layer on CDRs?

I've been trying to find a product that I can apply to the tops of CDs that fix the reflective layer of CDRs. My friend suggested getting reflective metalic spray paint but I wanted to see if Slash.ers have ever done this.

Journal Journal: Blogger

I've only been blogging for a few months and sparingly at that. I've never had a personal journal. This journal is more of a tail of how my life is impacted by technology. I do however like the personal experiment that blogging becomes. It's like reading old term papers and thinking "WTF was wrong with me!" Another thing I like about Blogging is that people will go ape sh!t for pages and then no one ever reads it. Kind of like this journal. Blah!

Journal Journal: CloneCD

You've got to respect a product as well writen as CloneCD. Try to copy M$ Product A with a Roxio or Nero product and then try to install it. Hmmm, it doesn't work. I used CloneCD 3.3 to make my copies and low and behold it works like a charm. I see almost any protection measure as distrupting fair use. In today's world, the concept of Fair Use seems to be stuffed in that same rabbit hole that Bush has put our personal freedoms.

By the way, we are a licensed reseller of M$ Product A.

Journal Journal: Karma?

I'm curious as to why I now have Bad Karma. Not that I give a shit but how does that happen. Its not like all of my postings are mod'ed flamebait. O'well I guess I going to be a bad guy now. :D

Journal Journal: Network Cards initialization and Red Hat or FreeBSD

After installing both Red Hat and FreeBSD and trying several different cards, I was able to track down the reason network cards would not initialize on an old Compaq of mine. I was getting an error when the OS tried to configure the network card. As it turns out it was not able to configure memory for the card. Disable PnP OS in the bios and viola!
KDE

Journal Journal: KDE running on FreeBSD

I'm damn excited that for the first time I got KDE and X Windows on FreeBSD. I turns out the reason, this time, it wasn't working was because of missing dependencies.

I still am having problems with resolution but its a step in the right direction. The last version of KDE I have experience using was 2.x and I was not very impressed. I'm running KDE 3.1 and everything seems work much better and fast.

I am becoming more of a UNIX/Linux proponent everytime I learn something new. So far I think the only way to go is FreeBSD.

Journal Journal: Red Hat 8.0 Display Problems

My experience with Open Source/Free Software has been very positive in the year I have been using it.

I am very disappointed with the display problems I am having with RH8. I am not sure if this is a user problem(me), Monitor, video, or something else. I have vast amounts of troubleshooting experience, but limited experience with RH. I have used the built-in configuration tools, vi to edit the config, different hardware, and reinstalling.

Why can't RH spend more time on building a quality GUI that isn't so difficult to troubleshoot and improve other elements, instead of releasing a new version every year? One of the reasons Mac has such a loyal following is they release very stable products.
