I sincerely doubt Daryl Davis ever espoused "go back to where you came from" ideals or advocated for killing whitey. When groups claim a Nazi identity themselves, your reasoning of "you're completely fine with totalitarianism as long as people justify it by first accusing their targets" is bullshit. No one is accusing these groups of anything that they haven't gleefully embraced themselves.

Fair enough, but in science and engineering you damage your professional reputation by leveling completely irrelevant criticism. "This is dumb because I already have a 200 amp panel in my garage" isn't scrutiny, it's just spouting off. Does complaining that it doesn't have a breaker when it does count as scrutiny? The number of knee jerk reactions with absolutely no valid criticisms is pretty high here. The only legit criticism I've seen is that someone posted that their EV charger already monitors and adjusts the draw if it notices a voltage drop. That actually hits this device where it lives.

Instead of just installing a breaker and an outlet

This does more than a new breaker, it monitors the total load and controls the EV circuit output so you don't go over your line capacity.

My meter is on the opposite side of my house from my garage, so that's going to be run a long way.

Isn't your panel adjacent to your meter? If it is, the length of the run is going to be about the same.

I don't understand all the hate in this thread. This seems like a real solution to real problems and depending on the finalized price, it could be a smart outside-the-box solution.

I'm not sure why you think it would be easy-peasy to transfer a bunch of people from the ICE division to the EV division. Their EV division is already staffed. Do you want to make up a ton of positions for the ICE people? Do ICE people have enough generic knowledge to be useful in an EV division?

The article doesn't say where their $50bn investment is going. Maybe it's going towards equipment. Maybe they have enough people they just need to execute the ideas and plans those people have.

They may be using EVs as an excuse to fire a bunch of people, but it seems like a good one.
