Comment Re:So ask for two Windows machines (Score 1) 290

You don't need to ask for another machine. All you have to do is load Linux on the machine you have and then use VMware to run a Windows instance. You will have all the tools you need in the UNIX world and still be able to run any Windows app. I have been doing this at a large government agency for a year now. It has been so successful for the engineers, the powers that be have change the previous all Windows desktop standard to support this type of configuration.

Journal Journal: The 1st day..... HTCZ

HTCZ is the drug my doctor prescribed for high blood pressure. It is called a, "diuretic" or "water pill". It has an ingredient that softens the blood vessels and the diuretic causes your body to expel more water through urine. I have to say that I feel different. I took it before I left home and on the way to work I started to feel a little high, then more mellow. I even had some jerk doing 90 almost take my rear end off.... I yelled an obscenity..... then I was fine. Normally I would have h

Journal Journal: Anxiety

I don't know if I spelled the subject right.... but who cares. What is going on and why am I anxious? Well, little things tend to conspire and cause it to happen. For the last couple of months, my eye lids have been twitching. This happened before and I was a little streassed and I had been drinking a lot of coffee. Well, I cut back on the coffee and the problem went away. I have stopped drinking coffee now and I still have the twitching. So it must be because of streas or anxiety, but ultima

This is really a test entry for KDE 3.2 with Konqueror at it's spell checking functionality. I am going to the country club I just joined this morning and hang out, (or try to) and hit some ranger balls... you know, practice. I really want to get good again and I think I can. I want to break 80. If I can break 80, I can become a "scratch golfer" Wow!

Journal Journal: Today

Today, May 13th 2004 is my birthday. Birthday.... it is a word we say a lot, but what does it mean. The day of your birth. When people find out it is your birthday, they make a big deal out of it. They want to through you a party or by you lunch. This behavior has always seemed strange to me. I have never really felt the need to celebrate or have anyone else celebrate it. I guess it is thought of by many as a celebration of the day of you birth.... what a wounderfull thing.... you were born..

Journal Journal: Leadership

Management and leadership are two completely different things. Unfortunately, some only do one and forget about the other. Do you have a manager where you work? Chances are you do. Do you like who you work for and enjoy your job? If the answer to that question is yes, then my bet is you have a leader. If the answer however is know, then my guess is you have a manager.

Journal Journal: The next application frontier

To predict the future, we must look to the past. Trends in technology have a way of evolving. You never know where the next breakthrough will come or what it might be, but if you pay attention to what is going on, you can see trends developing and get a good idea of what's to come.

Griffin PO pilot When I came in at 8:30, my mailbox had messages about the high load average on the Griffin server. I went back and looked and the messages started at 4:35pm yesterday. I left at 4:30pm. When I checked the server, everone was on and the server was running fine, although it's load was above 1.0. Their was a "kdeinit" process that was reported by "top" as using 16.7 percent of cpu utilization, but it was obviously hung. It belonged to nixonj00, Judy Nixon. It looks like she shout
