What does R or D have to do with this? It seems to me the California law infringes on the constitutional right of free association, amongst others. Why can't I be an independent contractor pursuing a variety of disparate interests? Why do I "have" to be an employee for only certain types of work? And this CA law plainly doesn't outlaw "gig" work for all - it has way too many exceptions. Either there is no independent contracting for anyone or it's available for everyone, regardless of industry. And even if CA tried to outlaw contracting for all, I suspect it'll get struck down as unconstitutional.

The only exception is for large equity holders / major partners in an enterprise. I've had California companies put non-competes in front of me as an employee. Sign them or not, they are unenforceable in court. Companies that use them are generally trying to intimidate you. https://leginfo.legislature.ca.... It's great that this could be nationwide. It's a needed protection.

The content on FB exists to draw you in so that your data can be collected for targeted advertising, resell, and whatever other use they deem necessary. Sure they are going to manipulate that content to draw more eyeballs so as to collect more data. My big question, why does anyone still use these platforms now that the "newness" has worn off given what we know about their business model and the loss of privacy?
