They are talking about different definitions of AI. Tim is assuming AI is what people are using now which is just very advanced machine learning. What Elon is referring to is actual machine intelligence that can think at least as well as humans then quickly advances beyond us. Any current form in the near future that is referred to as AI just benefits humans and Tim is correct. However, at some point which nobody can really pinpoint (and likely even Ray Kurzweil is way off on) the actual machine intelligence means we are in real danger, because as a human race we make pretty dumb decisions and any advanced intelligence would feel it was in our own best interest to take over control so we stop hurting ourselves. Just as zookeepers separate monkeys from fighting, a machine intelligence would quickly and without us even knowing, secretly build up capability and keep it from us until they would then just immediately take over but in a way that is much more civilized than we are to zoo animals.

And yet nobody is talking about EDTA (especially taken orally and not through IV)?? There is a phase 2 trial ongoing. Results of phase 1 were still pretty fascinating. EDTA has the ability to bind to substances such as Lead and then it is able to be eliminated from the body. Where is our real Artificial Intelligent systems that can do incredibly deep and wide searching of data and begin to truly allow us to make more intelligent decisions on how to reach longevity through optimal choices of lifestyle, foods, medicines,etc. We know lead is bad, so give us dang options to remove it !

Seen quite a few Tesla model x cars trying to back into supercharging stalls and they keep automatically braking. They finally give up and just drive away. Cars should definitely at least do more slowing down when they detect objects in front, but there should be some happy medium and not just slam on the brakes to cause folks behind to rear end you especially due to mistakes of sensors braking and slowing you down. Personally, I've always been one for cars trying to adapt by modulating it's taking over of the steering, brake and accelerator but allowing one the ability to overcome the effect by purposely overcoming the feedback.

Scientists do all kinds of different experiments and I'm glad they did this and it's operational. However, I think it obvious that since the government has such tight control, they are swiftly implementing actions to go after the sources in the manner that won't kill the economy. What I don't get is that just creating the jobs to put the additional filters on coal plants is beneficial so things like that should be happening as intermediate steps. I was shocked the other day when I saw the article how they already have an entire fleet of electric buses for a city. The rate at which they can change far exceeds our own. We barely think about things and debate them for years with great struggle while they just make things happen. Another thing I can't wrap my head around is what the house prices in Beijing are going to be 20 years from now when it's a completely clean air city.
