I believe that most modern automatic transmissions are dual-clutch simply because the design is better. You get faster and smoother shifts between gears. While it's nice to pretend I am better at shifting gears than the computer, I am 100% certain it's faster and better at deciding shift points, especially with a gated gear shift that is going to take forever to get between gears. I probably can't beat the computer with paddle shift either.
