I disagree. We use Amanda to backup a mixed Solaris/Linux/Win95/NT network, and it works flawlessly. I've performed restores to Solaris, Linux and Win95 without problems.

Oh yeah, we use a 12-cartridge 4mm stacker, a single 4mm drive, and an old Conner "floppy tape" on 3 different backup servers...
