Comment net install disk image (Score 1) 410
I upgraded to 8.0 this morning, but found it frustrating that all the mirrors I went to had an empty images directory. All I needed was the bootnet.img file for a network install. After learning about it, I find it much easier to upgrade just by connecting to an ftp server and downloading only what's needed instead of three huge ISO files and then having burning them to install.
I know the idea of rpm-based systems having to download ISOs every time a new version is released has been a peeve before, especially with Debian people; is there some subconscious desire to have people download the ISOs to upgrade? It would save bandwidth if people were encouraged to perform network installs rather than getting ISOs.
