I've been running Debian with KDE for a few years now and it's pretty much perfect. Just recently upgraded to Debian 13 and Plasma 6 and yes, I had to overcome a few issues during upgrade and sure, you'll face an occasional Linux glitch but it is essentially rock solid. If you are just a little bit tech savvy you can overcome these small issues and enjoy it. I don't have to care about upgrades for the next 2+ years on an LTS distro. During that period, I will mostly be getting just security udates and there are no nagging notifications forcing me to update and reboot. I can run the same thing on servers and Docker images, it's completely universal. I dual boot for certain games still but less and less, most games work with no issues on Proton. When I have to boot into Windows 11 I instantly want to kill myself. Mac is fine, but the only saving grace is brew package manager which has some insane update policies (like updating half of your packages because of one dependency). Linux packaging can't be beat. We truely live in the age of the Linux desktop.

I will seriously consider living in purgatory with one of the Linux phones and their crappy experience instead, no way in hell I am selling my soul to apple after avoiding it all these years.

I occasionally use the "Deep Research" function which will do all the "googling" for you, gather the sources and summarize, especially if it's something a bit more specific. For example, I was not sure if a certain bike trail was paved all the way to do it with a road bike and I couldn't find this information on the official site. So instead of trying to figure out what sites to check, translate each site from Italian to English and try to dig out this particular info I ask the AI to do it for me. It takes a few minutes, digs through all relavant sites, even discussion forums etc.. gives you an answer and backs it up with sources so you can still go and read it on your own. It is sometimes much easier to have AI do it for you than doom scrolling through random sites, hope your adblock works, trying to ctrl+f for the specific information you are looking for etc.. There are certainly good use cases for this out there so I wouldn't just yell at it.

On KDE I can simply import a wireguard config via standard network settings and call it a day. Who needs a custom GUI anyway?
