Same here, I build my own reader in Python and MongoDB, some years ago fact. And now it is running on Heroku (but with a PostgreSQL) dabase: https://pyaggr3g470r.herokuapp.... Quite simple, but I can manage more than 100,000 news with my local installation. And I am using Whoosh to index the content of the news.
