As someone who is a fair bit of both I have to agree, carguys look at computer geeks as mechanically useless.
But that is no different than how the average computer geek views the average carguy, as another useless newb.
Interestingly enough both passions are pretty similar in that regard and actually pretty compatible. We view those not in the know as worthless, wether they cannot install an application or change their oil. And we both spend a great deal of time researching and experimenting with an extremely complex and tempermental set of systems looking for some new understanding. So we are not so different.
That said being a carguy can actually get you laid, and I have never had someone I barely know ask me to do a full rebuild of their engine while at work. My current tally is four reinstalls of Windows while on the clock.
