I have a Ph.D. in Distributed Systems. I contributed to DynaServer at Rice University to study the design of scalable and highly available e-business servers. I contributed the RUBiS benchmark. After leaving Rice, I led a team at INRIA in France to provide open-source middleware for large scale data servers. I developed C-JDBC and transferred the technology to Continuent that I joined in 2005. I served as Chief Architect and CSO to develop the uni/cluster product line based on Sequoia. I was Chief Architect of ObjectWeb and the leader of various open source projects. From 2006 to 2008, I worked as Research Assistant at EPFL in the distributed systems lab. I Joined the CS Department of UMass Amherst in July 2008 where I am a Senior Research Fellow in the Laboratory for Advanced Software Systems. I also work for Aster Data Systems since October 2008. I continue open source development through http://frogthinker.org
