Everyone gets their shorts in a bunch when the government tries to step in and "watch out" for the kids. But what they should be doing is looking for the parents that don't keep an eye on their kids. The reason the government gets involved because parents are too lazy to say no and make their children mind them. If the parents said no, and the kids got a hold of the inappropriate games with out the parents permission the kid should get in trouble. But that is too hard for our lazy parents in this country.
I am a single father and i keep an eye on my sons internet activity and what games he plays and has access to at home. He knows to ask if he can play a game because if he doesn't and plays a game that i don't approve of the whole system is put away and he is grounded.
You want to keep inappropriate material from your kids then BE PARENTS, get off your butt and punish your kids when they break the rules, let them know who makes the rules and that there are consequences if the break them.

The finding comes from simulations to show how orbits of planets might evolve billions of years into the future. But the calculated chances of such events occurring are tiny. Writing in the journal Nature, a team led by Jacques Laskar shows there is also a chance Mercury could strike Venus and merge into a larger planet. Professor Laskar of the Paris Observatory and his colleagues also report that Mars might experience a close encounter with Jupiter — whose massive gravity could hurl the Red Planet out of our Solar System."

Blockbuster's retail outlets make good sense for Apple to partner with them for video iPod content distribution. You can rent the movie or buy it and you can even choose the resolution, which may or may not affect the final price. Take the iPod home, drop it in the dock attached to your TV and watch the movie. Linux beats Windows to Intel iMac 537

They used the elilo bootloader, a modified kernel, and a hacked vesafb to boot from a USB drive. No GUI pictures for now, just white text on a black background. The distro of choice was Gentoo, and instructions and patches are promised this weekend."
First Mac OS X Virus? 577
bubba451 writes "MacRumors reports on what may be the first virus to affect Mac OS X, disguised as screenshots for the upcoming Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. From the report: 'The resultant file decompresses into what appears to be a standard JPEG icon in Mac OS X but was actually a compiled Unix executable in disguise. An initial disassembly reveals evidence that the application is a virus or was designed to give that impression.' The virus is said to also spread via Bonjour instant messaging."
