Well, consider this: You can hear the doppler shift quite fine when the much-quoted ambulance speeds by, even though most ambulances I've seen don't make anything close to Mach 1.
It isn't easy being the parent of a six-year-old. However, it's a pretty small price to pay for having somebody around the house who understands computers.
