When I got hired for my remote job, I had to take a drug test within 20 miles of where my listed address was by the company of their choosing plus I had to verify that I was a US citizen. I would recommend xubuntu. All the good parts of Ubuntu without Unity. It comes with XFCE which is now my new favorite Linux windowing system. I tried Mint with LXDE also but I did not like it as well and that version of Mint did not seem very polished for dev work since git did not work out of the box.

I ate around 3k - 4k calories today. but I also hiked 16 miles with 4k elevation gain. I still probably shed some weight for the day.

Don't forget that St. Helens is as close to Portland as Mt. Hood. Can you say double whammy? On another note, I was at the Newberry Caldera a couple of weeks ago and went on a short hike over and obsidian field. Pretty amazing what volcanoes can do.
