Sitting contributes to many health issues including obesity, high blood pressure, and exhaustion. So, most people should be standing and moving more, and sitting a lot less. Get an adjustable height desk, and stand to work at a computer, or any other task involving a desk. Television? I restrict myself to a maximum of 1 hour a day, except the past week I've forgotten to watch anything. Music? Perhaps you should not just be listening to music, but doing something in addition, like building a prototype chair! A work chair that keeps you awake? What sort of world do you live in? If your falling asleep at work, you are putting in too many hours. Work more effectively and put in fewer hours. Swedish nurses have shown that working 6 hour days, is more productive than working 8 hour days. Locally, we had a test showing that car mechanics who work 5 hour days, work more effectively than and do as much work as those who put in 7.5 hours (our standard) and they make fewer mistakes. Napping? Use a bed, not a chair. Its more restive and designed for the purpose. Diagnostic chair? Exercise more often and measure less often. Dining chairs? Yes, but make sure they are small enough so people can sit close together to enjoy the company. If you want a better life, spend less time sitting. Make sure your chairs are just a little uncomfortable, so you are encouraged to get up. That way you will spend more time being active. For example, I spend a lot of time inside in a workshop. Outside, I'm climbing up and down ladders doing some remodeling, or walking out in nature, or gardening or using a hand mower to get the lawn.
