Chairs - Haven't found anything to beat the Herman Miller Aeron yet.
If you're placing PC's in the control room, beware of heating and cooling requirements. Most common mistake I've seen.
Second most common mistake, way over-spec'ing the AV system for the videowall. Keep it modest, in keeping with your actual requirements and conop, with room to grow.
I like the single tier monitor approach. Get monitors above other monitors makes for an ergonomically uncomfortable experience.
Do not, under any circumstances, cheap out on the monitors. Buy decent. Voice of experience here, cheap has the potential to kill your project dead

Back some time after SN1987A, I was fortunate enough to be at a seminar where Hans Bethe presented some results of SuperNova explosion computer modelling. It boiled down to the computer model not being able to get the SN to explode, it always succumbed to gravitational collapse. IIRC, Prof. Bethe pointed out 2 possible issues with the model:
1. To simplify the physics of the situation, the model assumed a symettrical(sp?) body and explosion (current SN research blows that view out of the water), and
2. No accounting for the neutrino/matter interaction and energy transfer - under normal conditions the neutrino interaction can be ignored without concern, but this may not be true during SN explosion - I still haven't heard any feedback on this issue.

I must say that I'm impressed that he's still around, and doing interesting work!!!
