The OP mentioned that the US is the only rich country in the world where the government doesn't guarantee paid time off from one's job. Who cares? Whether it's a legal right or a company policy, if you're afraid to take it off for fear of being viewed as a slacker, then you won't take time off. My company gives me paid time off, and I take it. I have no idea whether I'm seen as a slacker or not, and I don't care. If I take too much time off, I have to take it unpaid, and they let me do that, too.

An accident is a mishap which the parties involve did not intend to happen. I prefer the term "collision" because it's factual and leaves motivation and intent out of it. People are routinely arrested for things which they did not intend to do, and are often convicted of them, too.

Resale value is irrelevant. If you're already getting a discount because the market fears radiation, your lower resale value will be offset by the lower purchase price now. In other words, your profit or loss when you sell will probably be similar to those of all apartment sellers in Manhattan at time of sale.

Not true. Protestantism teaches salvation through faith alone. If you believe Christ died for your sins and accept Him as your personal savior, you go to heaven, regardless of how you behave afterwards. Catholicism teaches salvation through faith and good works. I'm an atheist, but Catholicism seems fairer in this respect, to me. After all, actions speak louder than worlds.

Google Maps says Monroe (about as far southeast as you can get) is 10 hours 1 minute (597 miles) from Houghton, not 15 hours. Washington DC is 488 miles (8 hours six minutes), so it's about 20% closer in both time and distance. I grew up in Maine, the 39th largest state, and the longest trip one can make within Maine without backtracking was 362 miles or about 6 hours.
