There is an assumption that I am making. From this quote:

I'm assuming that he plans to protect the downloadable pieces with DRM. I mean, if he's not planning to protect the downloaded parts of the game, how does this do anything at all to impede piracy?
Unless the real issue isn't piracy at all. Maybe they just want to charge more for games, and need some way to convince consumers that this scheme is in their best interests.
