Comment Birds Don't Land To Poop (Score -1) 123

It just goes to prove that birds, any bird, with their tiny little brain, are smarter than these morons building the flying scrap that we pay to ride in.  Birds fly in that specific formation because if they flew one behind the other, or one above/below the other, they would be covered in bird-poop.  They don't land to poop - they poop on the wing, in flight.  If those dweebs would get out from behind their protractors and computers and *walked* in the street once in a while, they'd figure it out pretty soon.  If you're flying directly behind another bird, or directly below another bird, you're going to catch a whole lot of bird-poop in a thousand-mile migration.  Sheesh!

... and that happened long before humankind showed up.  It is a sad fact of life on this planet, but a fact nonetheless.  It is also sad that humans have so altered environments in areas where species and creatures were once prevalent that the animals are now very scarce.  It is sad also that poachers intrude into Africa's wild lands where no humans live at all, to murder and butcher proud, regal and noble animals, remove a liver, a horn, a task, and leave the rest to rot in the sand.  Which is sadder?  And baby humans, too, are murdered and harvested for their organs.  It is the extent of greed in the few, not all humans, that has the negative impact and spoils it for all of us, animal and human alike.

"The technologies are expected to become an important part of national security, and some worry the United States is behind China in their development," reports The New York Times."  What a shame you insist on turning this final bastion of technology news sharing into your own little soapbox.

Comment Gotta fund establishing the Amazon Delivery Servic (Score 1) 274

Let's not forget that Amazon is soon to roll out their own delivery service that competes directly with FedEx and UPS, delivering not only their own products, but those of the same shippers currently using FedEx and UPS. The cost of using their own delivery service has to be funded with the funds redirected from the existing delivery services - ie. FedEx and UPS.  Their "free delivery" with Amazon Prime is funded with Prime dollars, regardless of who the actual shipper is.  By increasing the Prime member fees, they will be "over-funding" their own delivery service, effectively "subsidizing" the delivery service and giving them an unfair competitive cost edge over both FedEx and UPS.  It's how you take over a(nother) market.  By their own admission, they have over 100,000,000 Prime subscribers.  At $119 each that is almost $12B dollars a year subsidy.  To put that in some perspective, FedEx's gross annual income in 2017 was $13.77B.

There is starvation occurring all over our world and we have no better idea than to convert food that could be saving lives into fuel to burn?  At a higher cost than petroleum fuel? We can thank the lamestream media for misrepresenting the facts and so vociferously and incessantly blasting this misinformation all over the air waves.  It isn't the extreme vetting that's the problem - its the deliberate "re-interpretation" of the vetting by the media.  The common name for this is "scare tactics".  When are we all going to wise up?  Who is NEVER held accountable for misinformation, riots, lives ruined as the result of misinformation?  The media.  People die, lives ruined and communities and countries are sabotaged and there is zero accountability of the media. Shame, shame, shame.  The greatest evil of our time has free reign - at least, in the "civilized" world.  You'd be shot for that kind of behavior in the "third world".  There must be a way to express social injustice without fear of reprisal and at the same time not mislead an entire population for political gain.  The press cannot be "controlled" but they have lost their moral compass, in favor of ratings. Now all we are left with is the unaccountable and irresponsible manipulation of populace.
