Journal Journal: words in your head

When you think to yourself using words, are the words themselves actually your thoughts or are you making up words to describe thoughts that occur on some wordless level?

Journal Journal: redistricting

As recent case involving Texas legislators fleeing the state to avoid a vote indicates, the process of redrawing political districts in the US has apparently become unbearably partisan. (Although I am sure partisanship has played a healthy role in such matters for a long time.) Perhaps the situation would be improved if districts were defined by an algorithm. The program would only need to be given the population distribution of the state and convenient geographical boundaries (roads, rivers...) with which to set the district borders.

Journal Journal: author emulator

I think it would be fun to have software that could take a given text and rewrite it in the "voice" of a given writer. I suppose one means of doing this would be to have a function to reformat the grammar and then apply a vocabulary translator.

Journal Journal: Tomato sauce thingy 2

I would like to see some instrument that makes it easy to take extra tomato sauce out of a pot and put it back in the jar without making a mess.

Journal Journal: thoughts on safety

I think a nifty feature for these new-fangled camera-phones would be a button that allows you to take a picture and immediately have it sent to some predetermined e-mail address. I think it might be helpful in situations where one is concerned about personal safety and wants any potential evidence "out there". I also think that home security systems will evolve into (something like) a house surrounded with several small solar powered high-resolution cameras sending images wirelessly to some remote computer filtering data with AI.
