As recent case involving Texas legislators fleeing the state to avoid a vote indicates, the process of redrawing political districts in the US has apparently become unbearably partisan. (Although I am sure partisanship has played a healthy role in such matters for a long time.) Perhaps the situation would be improved if districts were defined by an algorithm. The program would only need to be given the population distribution of the state and convenient geographical boundaries (roads, rivers.

I think it would be fun to have software that could take a given text and rewrite it in the "voice" of a given writer. I suppose one means of doing this would be to have a function to reformat the grammar and then apply a vocabulary translator.

I would like to see some instrument that makes it easy to take extra tomato sauce out of a pot and put it back in the jar without making a mess.

I think computer game systems might make an interesting platform for new forms of art.

I think a nifty feature for these new-fangled camera-phones would be a button that allows you to take a picture and immediately have it sent to some predetermined e-mail address. I think it might be helpful in situations where one is concerned about personal safety and wants any potential evidence "out there".
