I didn't see a threat, and as more and more time passes, I'm proven to be correct on that.
I don't see the US often going to the aid of troubled regions, Liberia is a perfect example. They're begging us to go in there and save them and we send 50 guys to evac our embassy. We'll probably send a token force later, but peace-keeping and embettering the world is definately not the motivation behind the Iraq war.
I'm not going to say it was oil, or is oil, or a grudge, but you can't say we went there to help them out and not look at all the instances where we all just sat here with our thumbs up our asses going --we don't care--.
Now, why we're committed.
We can't pull out now, we sacrificed a lot of face internationally, cashed in a lot of our credibility to do this. If we pull out, that's all for nothing and we lose more face and more credibility and a bunch of our boys lost their lives and got shot so that we could destabilize a region.
So yea, no matter if the reasons were right or wrong, we have to be committed to seeing this through to a good outcome.
