Journal btlzu2's Journal: I got my head checked by a jumbo jet 17

Wow. I've been having serious Comcast problems lately. I'd been bracing for the worse when I called them:

[Wavey screen fade to imagined call]
"Support": "Have you re-booted your computer?"
me: *Laying down on the couch* "Yep, just did that."
"Support": "Have you recycled power on the cable modem?"
me: "Oh yes. Many times."
"Support": "Sorry, there's nothing wrong."
me: "Fuck you and thanks for nothing!"
[Back to reality]

I called them. The "first line of support" asked what OS I had. Cringing, I said, "Linux". (I usually lie, but I thought, what the hell?)

He said, ok, run an "ifconfig" and tell me your IP address. *Hmm, sounds like he just KNOWS this.* Then he said, "I'm running a bit error test to your modem. Hold on for a second."

A few seconds later, "I found a problem in the street with the T to your building. We'll send someone to fix it."

My lord!!! Someone who knows how to do something. This is Comcast????

It is now fixed. I haven't had the packet loss problem for 6 hours! Woohoo.

I'm very impressed, for the first time ever, with Comcast support! Amazing.
