I like my job, but I have seen the same "pointy-haired" execs make stupid decisions. (Enron for instance.) It's a wide spread phenomenon, probably because intelligence is considered less important than charm when it comes to dealing with people.
I'm sick of it, and I am doing something about it. After the years I've spent getting lots of "certs" and an MIS degree, I've decided to cross over: I'm getting an MBA.
Although I might sound a little like Jimmy Carter, "Ah shall restore morality to gummint", I have worked with enough bad managers to know that I can do better. Techies relate better to other techies, and we have a better idea of what it takes to make technology work, and a greater ability to make sensible decisions about technical issues.
