Not true at all. It is not uncommon for
a company to make their profit look lower
in order to reduce taxes.
The ballplayers' union has accused MLB
of making its profitability look bad so
as to cut down on salaries.
Actors have accused Hollywood studies
of playing accounting tricks to make it
look like films earned less money (so that
they have to pay less royalties to actors).
