Comment The wrong battle (Score 1) 1256

It is such a shame that all you people are so offended about the wrong thing. Look around you and be honest, woman are physically and mentally different from man. Your fight should be about diversity and difference being equally valid. Not about ignoring reality and pretending all is equal.

it's called "positive" discrimination
groups are given advantages just for belonging to that race/age/sex

it happens all the time, and it's not always bad, some groups need it (maternity leave, tax breaks for parents, intergation courses for migrants, and many many more)

he should have spent less pages on pointing out the obvious differences between men and woman and more on the positive discrimination google is doing

if 3 out of 30 students are female, you can't have a 50/50 representation in the workforce without manipulating the outcome of job applications
i don't know the exact numbers but the writer of the document might have.

Nowhere in the paper is he stating that.
(he spends way to many pages on pointing out the difference between males and females, stating the obvious)

his complaint is about google ignoring reality and giving minorities better treatment because google thinks forced diversity is best.

it's like out of 10 job applicants picking the 1 woman because you need a woman for diversity reasons.

thats the discussion

ha, you have it backwards
city = island with everything on it
house on the prairie = island with nothing around and no other option than drive your car to another island

and city people without their own car is not by choice, it's a lack of money, for some things you simply need a car (like once a week)

but yes, they must be stupid for not doing what you do

No i dont mean it ironically I think you have a bad grasp of what science is. Science is not about assuming a belief (skull shape related to character) and then ignoring everything that doesn't fit. Statistical significant differences in specific brain regions will still be facts in 100 years, our understanding of what it means, how it is related to other things might change, that will make this recent finding not less true

New Evidence Presented For Ancient Fossils In Mars Rocks 91

azoblue passes along a story in the Washington Post, which begins: "NASA's Mars Meteorite Research Team reopened a 14-year-old controversy on extraterrestrial life last week, reaffirming and offering support for its widely challenged assertion that a 4-billion-year-old meteorite that landed thousands of years ago on Antarctica shows evidence of microscopic life on Mars. In addition to presenting research that they said disproved some of their critics, the scientists reported that additional Martian meteorites appear to house distinct and identifiable microbial fossils that point even more strongly to the existence of life. 'We feel more confident than ever that Mars probably once was, and maybe still is, home to life,' team leader David McKay said at a NASA-sponsored conference on astrobiology."
