64 yr old retired Army Reserve Unit Administrative Technician, and not nearly the nerd I thought I was. BA(psychology) Cal State Long Beach, 1966. Took some programming classes in the early 80's that exposed me to writing in Basic,COBOL, Pascal and Assembler (for an IBM 360 System, I think); but never wrote any after school. Haven't yet learned any modern programming languages like C++, Java, or HTML; so I may not be posting or commenting much, as I have no idea what those HTML control codes listed in Slash Dot's FAQ do. I read mostly novels: science fiction, historical, romance: and read news headline emails from New York Times, L.A. Times. Washington Post and Christian Science Monitor; plus the news online at Google, Earthlink, Yahoo!, and now Slash Dot.

Just about every computer on the market today runs Unix, except the Mac (and nobody cares about it). -- Bill Joy 6/21/85
