I understand why he did it, Medical workers and first responders needed the limited supply of N95 masks more than anyone else, and if asshats bought them all and horded them like toilet paper, then there wouldn't be enough.

That said, his lie is what kicked off the distrust of a lot of people for him, and by association the government on how to handle the pandemic. The do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do actions of some leaders (Pelosi, Newsome) only compounded it.
