Journal blinder's Journal: The Blinder Family Update 2
Yeah, I've been quiet for a while. I've been really busy at work, integrating some ancient coldfusion app (written in 1998) into a new enterprise fuseboxed coldfusion app. its been a cast iron sonofabitch.
Anyway, i know i've posted here and there about how troubled my family has been what with substance abuse, under and non employment, mental illness and the like. Well, I talked to my dad today during lunch... in my sporty Buick LeSaber (Porsche is in the shop getting new rear tires... picked up some small little debris sometime)... and well had a very nice conversation with the old man.
First, my dad, about 3 weeks ago was diagnosed as a Type II Diabetic. Well, he's been kicking ass and taking names... got his glucose down to 92, dropped 18 pounds and he sounded like my old dad -- full of life and talkative. Also, he got job -- working for the company he worked for when my mom died. He's going to be running the Western US sales force for this company -- getting some serious $$$ going to live in Phoenix AZ (he loves it there). They gave him a car allowance, bonus package, options -- he's really looking forward to getting back to doing what he does. He's been kinda drifting in and out of executive recruiting for the past 5 years.
My brother, who was unemployed for the past year, has been working 12+ hour days as a sales rep for a Nissan dealership in Atlanta. My older brother is a born salesman. He's a great guy, and has a wonderfully cheerful and down-to-business personality and could sell anything to anyone. Heh, he sold 3 cars just this past saturday. He works like a horse and this is the first job he ever got on his own. He's 35 years old and every job he ever got he got because of my dad. So, I'm pretty proud of the big lug. His best friend, Kirsten -- who moved in with my brother (and my sister and my dad -- yeah they all live in one big... really big, house in Kennesaw) she had to because her mother and new step-father liked to beat the shit out of her. She's only 19 years old and had to endure the un-endurable... she and my brother are just good chums -- neither are interested in a relationship -- which is very cool.
My sister -- well, she is still underemployed, but she has recently seen the light, and is pursuing a career in healthcare sales -- which she'd be great at. She's been seeing this man, who is 45 (she'll be turning 30 this year) and I guess he's a good guy. Isn't like her last winner (an alcoholic weed freak). she's had some seriously tough times in her life, damn near killing herself a few years ago by accidentally OD'ing on hash (thinking the bong she was hitting was just weed). She's been clean and sober since she moved to Atlanta (2 years ago).
So, yeah, that's the Blinder family update. Oh, wait, funny stupid story -- last week, my manager pulled me aside and told me that someone told him that they saw me gaming at work on my PC! He was embarassed, and I was fuming. First I fucking hate gaming -- unless its in the form of PS2... and second... I'm a fucking professional and would never do that shit at work. I got really steamed and emailed my boss (I work for a consultancy and my boss is the guy that owns the consultancy firm). He, my boss, was fumin' big time... he couldn't believe I had to go through something like that. Now, my manager -- the guy who told me -- is treating me differently now. I'm not sure if its embarassement or what. I hope I can get a new assignment soon. Anyway -- I did do something funny... in a corner on my whiteboard... i wrote: "Total Playa"
Heh... i'm on to you... you dumb fucks!

I don't have a PS2 but I'm reconsidering because of Gran Turismo 4. May buy a combo pack once it's released, just to play that game.
