You wouldn't believe how many people I watched instantly dismiss and distrust open source software, in a single instant, because of the bullshit being bundled with files at SourceForge. At work, I once suggested a free open source alternative to an office application to some folks. Lo and behold, 5 people now had malware infecting their otherwise clean computer. I can't even mention open source software to them now without being laughed at, they aren't techies after all.

The point is, people turn to open source software for the transparency and because they knew exactly what they're getting. SourceForge has gone and fucked up all of that trust, and basically destroyed their own brand, not to mention the image of many open source projects who never wished to have their applications bundled with malware in the first place.

Especially if I die on impact...

I've been saying for years that to understand all of the law clearly, need to be a lawyer. How is one to stay sane when you really have no idea what laws you may or may not be breaking at any given moment. At least now people might have a way to check while they're on the go!

I got a $200 fine for walking ACROSS a railroad track behind my house, there were no trains within sight I should add. I didn't have to climb or open anything to walk across the tracks to the main road, there are no signs either. These cocksuckers have the nerve to run trains by my house at all hours, horns and all, and expect me not to cut across the tracks to save 30 minutes of my trip to work. There was a beaten trail through the grass to get across before i even moved in here. I nor anyone I asked at the time knew this was illegal.

You guys are really blowing this out of proportion. Starbucks coffee isn't great, it's also not that expensive unless you order something that takes half an hour to say. i can get beans from a roasting house that cost more than the coffee at atarbucks if i wanted to. Why to people bring laptops there? I don't know, maybe for work. I work close to a starbucks, when our power went out, I was able to walk over, and get work done for most of the day... They've also had free wifi here at all starbucks for as long as i can remember. (yay canada!) Sure, starbucks caters mostly to trendy fucks with macbooks, but that doesn't mean they're a total wright off...

Well, I guess I must be one of the few people that can tell the difference in many albums between the lossless and lossy digital format. I find depth is often lost, and high's seem somewhat distorted. ie. Symbols sound flat, and if there's a lot of symbol thrashing, it almost sounds like rattling tinfoil.. But thats just me though, go ahead and ditch "lossless" audio since so many people apparently can't appreciate it anyway.

I am Canadian, and you are partly right. There are a few things that haven't changed over yet. Human height/weight and gallons of milk (though pop is all metric). The really weird part is that almost everyone uses inches, feet and kilometers (don't ask).

Each generation seems to get us a little closer to finaly ridding ourselves of the horrors that is the imperial system.

Sometimes the discomfort is just a matter of getting used to them. Sometimes they're uncomfortable because you're using the wrong size/type of tips or pushing them in too far. Or maybe you just have really sensitive ears. I found them uncomfortable at first but after getting used to them I really started to like them.

I know people have their preferences but I would like to see some evidence to back up the claim that buds are evil and will destroy your hearing, especially since I often wear them 5+ hours a day at work.

I've been using KeePass Password Safe for years. I keep it installed on a thumb drive and take it with me pretty much everywhere I go. The KeePass files also get backed up to my desktop every time I insert the thumb drive or modify the password file. If I lose it, no big deal, no ones going to guess the master password and I always have a backup. There are builds for just about any OS people are using these days, so you shouldn't have to worry about retrieving your passwords cross-platform.

Why would nvidia stop there? they should tighten things up all across the board. What they should to is start disabling Physics on AMD cpu's all together. then they could start looking at preventing nvidia graphics from working on amd systems. the next logical step would be to prevent any of the competitions hardware from working with any nvidia hardware, because that is the way it is meant to be played.
