We have a home office so must back up at least once a day but in practical terms, we back up every document as soon as it's created.
Beyond that, I've lost all my personal pictures and music several times over the years when hard drives died. It's one thing to go through the nuisance of re-installing programs but when stuff like that is gone, it's gone for good. So I've used Karen's Replicator for years to back up vital files to another drive, and when Windows Home Server came out, I was one of the first to get it. It's nice to just be a couple clicks from a do-over in case of compupocalypse.
