OFDM was not practical in the heyday of DSSS and CDMA, because it relies on doing large FFTs in hardware in real-time.

You may be thinking of DSSS which is related to CDMA. It was used in 802.11b.

If you worked for me, you would also care about having the source available. If it's not, then we have to get into issues about how we will debug issues at the boundaries between our code and theirs, what the support model is, are we an important customer to them or not, and finally, how hard will it be to design them out.

Actually, that is done for HA pairs. You can use nbd (network block device) and then create a RAID-1 pair across the local disk and the nbd. There are better alternatives now (such as drbd), but I'm not aware of any problem with nbd+RAID. Jeff
