The only way I can see paying for a linux.com address is if there's a clear incentive for it. Are there super anti-spam features? Can it collect all my addresses? Will I get special access to anything else?
Otherwise, it seems to me that me@linux.com is as much an endorsement, an advertisement directly associated with my name, of linux.com, as it is an "address". Unless I want to endorse or support an organization, or I'm really low on laundry, I don't walk around with T-Shirts that have huge logos (Nike! Reebok! Sgi!) emblazoned on them, so why should I walk around with "Linux.com" emblazoned on all my e-mails?
Maybe if there were high-speed servers we had access to, and ... and ... special meta-themes ... and ... and ... oh wait, that'll never work. ;)
