Comment Maybe anti-gun measures are good? (Score -1) 253

Perhaps teaching kids that use of guns and violence in schools will not be tolerated is a good thing? Do we want to teach out kids how to use fake guns now, then careless use of real guns once in the real world? Schools need to keep zero tolerance on anything gun related if we want to see our crime rate go down (hint: Only a few countries have worse gun violence than the US... and they either have unstable governments, or no governments.)

You are the person that Bloomberg has spent 50 million to protect the children of the US against this year. There is a reason that parents are just getting fed up with the gun nuts. Look at Europe. Only the military and police have guns, and crime is 1/10 of what it is here. Venezuela enacted a country wide gun ban, and violent firearm crime dropped by 1/1000. People like you are why the SAFE act and other lesligation to protect children has been enacted.

Here is the problem. 30 years ago, you just needed a degree. English degree? You were still able to find a well paying degree. In fact, it mattered more what one did after graduating than the major. Then majors became important after the dot.com crash. Want a computer job, where is the CS degree? Now, a degree in the field is relevant only because without it, your resume doesn't pass the first round of filters. There used to be an unspoken deal. A student paid the insane fees and dealt with pleasing the professors for the degree, and because of that, they would get hired. Now, that deal was welched on, and not by the students who played by the rules.

Comment Re:Isn't parody protected in the US? (Score 1) 169

Nope. Reasonable benefactors of humanity like Bloomberg have donated large sums to disarm the rabid lunatics, so it might take a bit, but we will actually have children live in schools with guns off the street.

Warlords will not happen. Revolution is impossible (look at Syria) with the technology governments can bring to bear. One canister of Sarin gas on a town square of revolutionaries, and all the "three percenters" with all the nutty gun talk will be surrendering by the thousands like Iraqis in Desert Storm.
