For those of us who really care about audio and video quality (there's 100's of us left!), nothing can compete with straight uncompressed blu-ray to play on one's home theater. The last thing I want is a bunch of jpeg artifacts showing up from the video compression, or plain stereo audio when I went to the trouble to put together a 7.1 surround sound audio system. Unfortunately, the size of blu-ray disks makes it unwieldy to have more than a few of them on your hard drive. I really wish I could get some sort of blu-ray carousel to store and retrieve them in a manner that's as convenient as movie files on a networked NAS (to make them universally accessible on my network), but the best we can get is just blu-ray players with large disk changers that can only output directly to hdmi. :(

At least they used to. Roku has endangered their position as a neutral platform by deciding to compete with their own streaming services. Amazon had already killed their Twitch Roku app last year. Possibly more on the way if they see Roku Streaming Channel as a threat.

I just needed to log on to say THANK YOU, that is an amazing set of statistics you put together. To see those numbers spelled out for two races, and see that the police shooting rate is the same makes me happy. Of course it'd be nice if the police shooting rate was zero, but maybe we don't have to have race riots if everyone realized that we're being shot at the same rate by the police.

You're not thinking very critically. When designing a robot, you don't start with a current human appropriate standard, strap on autonomy, and hope it doesn't kill anything. There are all kinds of "from-the-ground-up" redesigns that can be done because of the different size and time economies of robots, as well as safety considerations. Think small, light, and uses something more like a weed eater string as a cutting tool.
