Journal bethanie's Journal: ____ Loose & Fancy Free 20
I promise that eventually my JEs won't all be about my dad's health problems. Really.
So Mom called tonight during supper -- it was the first I'd heard from her since the message left around Noon:30. Some things got clarified -- his foot wasn't ALL black -- just around the wound and some on the top. Still sounds gross, but better than an all-black foot, I'd say. My dad went to the ER to avoid waiting for the HMO to process & approve a hospital stay. They checked him in and began administering antibiotics.
He started feeling better right away. He had told me yesterday that he was hardly eating 300 calories a day -- he just wasn't hungry. After he started getting the meds, he ate a sandwich, tea, fruit, and some soup. Gotta love that hospital food!!
My mom sounded really upbeat & much calmer than she had on the message. I guess I'd better stop reacting to how she sounds on those, since I seem to be the first person she calls (when she's most upset and doesn't know *anything*). So I'm feeling better, too.
They're waiting on an MRI. Dad will still probably get the big chop (I think). But it's not such a "rush him to the ER, he needs to lose that foot, STAT!" situation.
In other news, I'm taking the kids on an apple orchard tour tomorrow! I called up a local place & they have tours just for kids, so we signed right up!! I think it'll be fun for Kiddo to see how apples grow and how a farm works and all that jazz. Afterwards, we're gonna buy one of a bunch of different varieties and have a tasting. Then I'm going to have her come up with words to describe each different kind. Juicy!

I may post the recipe tomorrow, in a few days, or in a week. I'm off work for a week next week and I don't often post from home. My wife has other plans than sitting at the computer
