A legal agreement needs An Offer, Acceptance, Consideration, Capacity, and Legality of Purpose. A signature is a form of written acceptance - which is harder to dispute, but verbal agreement or conduct (accepting and using a good or service) is just as binding. A handshake is also just as binding as a signature.

Comment Still using cheques? (Score 1) 140

I find it extraordinary that Americans still regularly use cheques. And still get paid that way too. Someone should do the math on how much productivity is lost through producing and processing of cheques. Producing, Depositing, Processing, Verifying - easily over an hour per cheque, so over $5b per year before you add in fees and any time wasted travelling to somewhere to deposit it. A quick google shows that $66m in fees was spent to cash the stimulus cheques. Mind-blowing stuff.

Also of note: The list displayed is apparently about twice the size of the official list. - This, of course, is the claim of the Government. I would like to see some proof that this is or isn't the official list. From either the Government or WikiLeaks (Un)fortunately, the only way to do this is for the official list to be released.
