Miner revenue consists of (1) the "coinbase" per-block reward, and (2) fees per transaction.
Transactions fees are growing and eventually will be the only source of miner revenue.
Depending on the demand for on-chain transactions, some miners may have to shutdown. The
remaining miners will then get more revenue. Supply and demand.

The bitcoin transaction fee is about $1 recently. So any transaction over about $33 will have lower fee on bitcoin than on visa.

A fair comparison of bitcoin to visa must acknowledge that visa has over 20,000 employees.

The energy use of bitcoin is trending downward. The block reward (coinbase) is diminishing and soon there will be only transaction fees to support the miners. There won't be enough in transaction fees to support all the current miners and some will retire. Also, more and more of transactions are being handled by second layer protocols, such as lightning, or off-chain inside of exchanges. These transactions consume much less energy.

Glaciers are a 3d structure. It is volume of ice that matters, not surface area. Satellite photos provide 2d data, which has to be interpreted through a model to estimate volume. It would be much better to have direct measurement of ice volume. So NASA developed the GRACE satellites, which use gravity anomalies to measure the mass of the ice in glaciers.

Sadly, for the fearmongers, the data did not support their message. GRACE showed that total volume of glacial ice is stable.

So the GRACE data is being ignored, and unverifiable models are being applied to photos again to generate fear.

The NSA should hire the SCTO (secret chem trail organization) to handle their security. No more leaks to worry about. Show the NSA how to control information right.

It is clear that the SCTO maintains a global fleet of thousands of specially modified tanker aircraft for 24/7 operations. There is a small army of technicians, mechanics and pilots. They skillfully manage extreme logistical challenges to safely manufacture, store, and distribute all the millions of tons of chemicals. All in secret. Not one whistle-blower. Not one crash or chemical spill. Not one photo or chemical sample has leaked.

It seems to me that it would not be too difficult to modify the sound card driver in Linux so that it makes a copy in a file of all the bits that get sent to the sound card.

So if you have a legal player program, it is possible to get access to the decoded bitstream, and then to reformat any way you want and to copy at will.

There may be other ways to get at a bitstream in an open format. Don't some PC speakers accept digital sound over USB? Well USB is a well defined format, and I am confident that someone soon will make some special "line monitor" or "network analyzer" software that lets you capture data off the USB cable.

I don't see any way to get around these scenarios.
