Comment Will never work in an office again (Score 1) 160

My employer has been trying to get people back in the office.

For years now, I've been telling my bosses that I just won't do it and that they are free to fire me.

3 years this has been going on. Haven't been fired, won't be fired, and won't attend the office, at all. And if by some chance they do grow the balls to fire me, I'll have another job within the week.

Work from home is here to stay.

Kennedy is, if not the most well known, then at least in the top 3 or top 5 of well known American presidents world wide.

With Washington, Lincoln, and umm? Eisenhower? I think you had a couple of Roosevelt's right? Oh! Truman! Yes yes we all remember Clinton and Bush and Obama, but we foreigners will be educated about Washington and Lincoln and Kennedy for decades to come. Clinton? Meh.

Why?

The problem is, who gets to determine something is a lie. For example, if one candidate says, "My opponent doesn't care about the poor!" Is that a lie? Perhaps in the strictest sense. But the implication here is that one candidate feels that the actions of their opponent demonstrates that their opponent doesn't care about the poor. The reality is likely that the opposing candidate cares about the poor, but supports policy that their opponent doesn't. But should we stop the first candidate from saying such things?

If we do stop candidates from stating things that are opinionated but could be argued as being "lies", we can start stating that ANYTHING that the opposing candidate disagrees with is a lie. For example: "Program X is the best way to raise test scores!" - ThoughtPolice has determine that was a lie only "Program Y" is acceptable for raising test scores.

I'd rather not have people trying to tell me what opinions are true or false. I'm a grown up, I can figure it out.
