I have been a software engineer for years. When I was forced to take a cobol programming course in college, the end result was to never want to even hear the word computer again after I completed the course. A few years later, a company I was working for decided that I was going upstairs to be trained a programmer. This worked out perfectly for me, but most people will end up hating programming just as I first did. There is one great flaw here also. Teach people in programming classes something worthwhile. Python might be a good start. But Swift? Forger it! The vast number of computers are not Apple, but Windows computers. Teach a language that might give students a chance of using it. One computer course is not going to forward anyone in the future. My cobol course certainly didn't. I had to self teach my self cobol and assembler.
