  • they just moved into broadband maybe they need more people to maintain/grow their new broadband network?
  • Because of the spam suits, blocking non-static IP's, and the new law, they envision a new golden age of the Internet, pioneered by AOL, of course.

Perhaps they should first envision profitability, and grow the company organically.

      Or something.
  • Posted jobs does not equal hiring. A company I worked for 2 years ago has laid off all but 25 employees and currently has just $25000.00 in the bank; yet, they have 27 positions posted. ;)
    • Yeah. Yet it continues to perplex me. Why post HUNDREDS of positions throughout your ENTIRE organization (Not just tech jobs!) when you're not hiring? Why bother at all?

"So you'll have them one day", "we think we'll need this person if we ever get funding for this project", and similar things, just stop making sense. It doesn't jibe anymore. At some point, someone had to say, "no one actually wants to hire anymore, let's save the money for now, or do a lesser hiring effort, like posting the job internally

It's quite simple really. The market for internet access for the general public is still growing, particularly for ADSL. There are an almost endless supply of morons willing to sign up to an ISP with a name they've heard of. And AOL has those Connie ads on TV, so they must be good, right? Trust me, AOL has no shortage of new customers...

  • I've heard about a few scams on Monster Inc. with Identity theft, etc. Are you sure the poster is AOL? It could be some scam artist.

To err is human, to moo bovine.
