Government support in China typically amounts to building another high tech park at the outskirts with subsidized rents for "AI companies".
Every city in China has at least one of those, since it is the surest way for the local government and affiliated developers to make use of cheap central bank loans earmarked for "innovation".
Pretty much always these high-tech parks have occupancy rate of around 10%, with companies inside doing anything but high-tech.
This does nothing to address the real challenges: Lack of talent, Unreliable and unpredictable connectivity hampered by Deep Packet Inspection, Unclear data regulation.
