UC Berkeley Lab Examines Cloud Computing Obstacles 58

alphadogg writes "UC Berkeley researchers have outlined their view of cloud computing, which they say has great opportunity to exploit unprecedented IT resources if vendors can overcome a litany of obstacles. 'We argue that the construction and operation of extremely large-scale, commodity-computer data centers at low-cost locations was the key necessary enabler of Cloud Computing,' The paper outlines 10 obstacles to cloud computing [PDF]."

to bad one of the biggest indie labels, subpop, is 49% owned by warner which the riaaradar site does not acknowledge/know about. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the big 5 had money in a bunch of indie labels. I will buy the music if it is good regaurdless if it is RIAA or not. Presumably these bands understand the contracts they are signing into and will recieve a profit from the sale. Of course I will download and test the waters first.

try again. I live in center city Philadelphia and I doubt I will be able to get a fiber connection by the end of the decade. Know why? Because 10 blocks southwest of me is a ghetto. Verizon has no desire to spend all that money to run fiber throughout Philadelphia and then have 25% of the people actually use it. The current wires in place are even a joke. When I signed up for comcast the guy came and climbed up a ladder disconnected and reconnected a bunch of cables until the internet started working. It looks like a spider web over on that pole. Maybe cities with more money such as NY/Miami, but just because a city is big doesn't mean it is good.

A lot of comments are eluding that if you have a degree there is no way to gain experience? How would starting out with a degree be any different then starting out without a degree? Both have zero experience, but at least one shows they have atleast some sort of ability. I will be graduating with an IT degree while having 2 years experience...

Being in a relationship is not easy, more than half of all first marriages fail in this country. That statistic doesn't improve if you spend most of your time reading your favorite website and not tending to the needs of your family. Instead of asking me to help fix your relationship maybe you should try playing with your kids, talking to your wife, and not staring at a computer screen all day. You should realize that the help link doesn't provide help with your life. It's mostly for getting passwords and stuff. Below you'll find a collection of people that should have reached out to Dr. Phil and not Dr. Sam.
