Submission + - Facebook faces high-level staff exodus (computerworld.com.au)

angry tapir writes: "It has been troubled times for Facebook since the social network's IPO in May. There has been speculation that Facebook could suffer a talent drain in the wake of the IPO, and now the organisation has lost four of its high-level managers the space of a week: Ethan Beard, director of platform partnerships; Kate Mitic, platform marketing director; Jonathan Matus, mobile platform marketing manager; and Ben Blumenfeld, design manager, have all resigned from the company."

Comment Re:Another Kickstarter (Score 1) 62

I think this is a perfect project for a Kickstarter. It's a great way to show that there are still fans of the Adventure Game genre and it allows us to directly interact with the developers. Scott and Mark have been quite hands on in their interaction with the fans which has been great. With all the other adventure game kickstarters (Double Fine, Jane Jensen, Leasure Suit Larry, Tex Murphy, Rob Swigart's Portal) around 2013 is going to be a great year for adventure games... Well it will be if we can get this funded!
It's funny. Laugh.

Taiwan Tabloid Sensation Next Media Recreate News 40

Ant writes "Next Media Animation (NWA) became popular due to its animated and sometimes humorous renderings for world news. Their official videos can be found on YouTube." They start by covering the Tiger Woods animation that made these guys known, and then talk about the process and the people behind it. I've attached an Apple video that you might have bumped into recently as well... it's worth the watch if you haven't seen it yet.

FCC Approves Unlicensed Use of White-Space Spectrum 138

sidesh0w was one of a number of readers to alert us to the FCC's unanimous decision approving unlicensed devices to use the white spaces of the spectrum unused by television broadcasters, provided they take certain precautions not to interfere with licensed users. "Denying a tremendous last-minute lobbying effort by broadcasters, the vote on white space devices went ahead as planned today after a several-hour delay at FCC headquarters. When the vote came, though, it was unanimous. For the Democrats on the Commission, the devices are appealing because they offer a potential new avenue for broadband services, while the Republicans are pleased for the same reasons, but love the fact that this is a deregulatory order that focuses on less regulation and more competition."
