> what’s going to happen when the LLM companies decide that they have plateaued, that there’s no more money to burn spend, and a bunch of them fold—but we’ve perturbed education to such an extent that our students can no longer function without their AI helpers.

That's a bit silly considering that
1. there are local AI models that don't depends on online services that are pretty powerful and can be used for programming already -- at least for things that students need.
2. there are open source AI models that will not go anywhere when the bubble bursts

It's a social invention that is easier to change simultaneously by law, good luck having each business, school make decisions about the "right time" to open. And good luck knowing if each business that you are interested in decides to open earlier during summer or later during winter...

Ultimately you need to understand that the "human invention" is not following the realities of seasons which is a simple cosmic fact, not an invention.
DST it's just a way of trying to sync the human invention twice a year to match the cosmic reality better. Ignoring the reality is worse than changing the time twice a year. Do you have a better solution?
