Comment Homegrown (Score 1) 1021
As someone who is currently debugging code written for a homegrown database application (no comments, and several languages literally blended together). I vote for lengthy, descriptive, and functional comments.
Even further the programmer/administrator should not assume the next maintainer is of equal or greater intelligence. KISS the code, KISS the comments.
