Feed Engadget: Xbox 360 warranty extended to three years (engadget.com)

In a monumental move for Xbox 360 owners everywhere, Microsoft has expanded its warranty coverage to three years, and will take a $1.05 billion to $1.15 billion charge to earnings for anticipated repair costs on the malfunctioning consoles. The company had previously extended the 90 day warranty to one year, but this move comes with a clear acknowledgment of the persistent problems with many of its consoles (specifically the red ring of doom), and an offer to reimburse users who have already paid for repairs to their consoles. This news comes on the heals of the reported 33 percent failure rate for the system, so this should be welcome relief for literally scores of gamers.

Microsoft Acknowledges 360 Issues, Extends Warranty to 3 Years 205

RamblinLonghorn writes "Microsoft has announced that they are extending the warranty for all Xbox 360s to 3 years. This appears to be entirely retroactive and that 'those who have already paid for such repair charges can expect reimbursement checks for the amount of their console repair.' It seems as though Microsoft is accepting the blame for the hardware malfunctions, but it is worth noting that this warranty modification only applies in the 'Red Rings of Death' situation."

Comment One reason to use SVN - you can't afford better (Score 0, Redundant) 392

Yes, yes, yes, yes... all this lies again about how good SVN or CVS are...

Yes, they are pretty good... only when you can't afford something better!!

Clearcase is much, much better, but it is not for programmers wanabees...
you *MUST* understand what you're doing... yes, it is like saying Visual
Basic is better than C/C++ or Java just because it is simple... Come on!! It
is crap, just like CVS and SVN are crap.

Clearcase is much, much better than cheap-free-version-control-software.
SurroundSCM is better, and systems like PlasticSCM or Accurev even better...
The downside? You HAVE TO pay...

The same old story... free is good, when you pay you get better.
