I am in the same situation as OP. I use WRT54G since 1999 and had a WRT54GL as a second AP at home. My Internet link currently still small (12Mbps Down/768Kbps Up), still below the hardware limit of WRT54G which is around 35Mbps. The tipping point for me to upgrade was I have some NAS within my home LAN, and using 802.11g with 24Mbps~54Mbps is limiting any file maintenance I need to do. I had to switch to wired connection (GbE) otherwise the time I need to spend is unbearable.

Now I've been doing a trial using Mikrotik RB951Ui-2HnD for around a month now and so far happy with the performance. I am now ordering an RB951G-2HnD, which is the same as RB951Ui but with GbE wired port. If all goes well, I will put my both WRT54G for sale.

Mikrotik seems like a logical option for OP.

The notorious Waledac botnet is being used by Eastern European spammers to send 1.5 billion spam messages every day, and infect hundreds of thousands of machines with malware. In a suit filed in the US District Court of Eastern Virginia, Microsoft accused 27 unnamed defendants of violating federal computer crime laws. It further requested that domain registrar Verisign temporarily deactivate the domains, shutting down the control servers being used to send commands to the machines. The request was secretly approved by District Judge Leonie Brinkema, allowing the action to be taken covertly, preventing Waledac's operators from switching domains.

when it becomes so hot, it becomes difficult/painful to hold by bare hand. it happens usually whenever i'am using 3G connection with a lot of open connections (i.e. my eBuddy account), or whenever needs reconnection (i.e. browsing on the road with connection changes between GPRS, EDGE and 3G --and no i'm not driving--). whenever this happens, the battery drains like monkey pee. the only solution to save the battery (avoid recharging) is to turn off the handphone immediately.

the shitty thing due this issue is sometimes i forgot to logout from eBuddy from the phone... I just put it on my trouser pocket and heat sometimes burn my testicles... damn, my sperm...

i remember the first time i use windows. version 3.11 it was. i didn't even know how i need to press alt tab to go to mixer apps for turning down a MID file screaming. going from DOS to win requires learning. people now got lucky as for linux at least the interface not as bad as win3.11 :)

but hey, some people feel better to depart with more money and got married with microsoft.. well, that's their choice.. that's why there is an XP option for netbook
