Yeah, no. Google doesn't need yet more information about me. Deleted my data, disconnected the partner integrations, deactivated my account, and then I'm deleting the apps and throwing all my Fitshit away.
Another option, though it requires a bit more effort...
I had already ditched Google (search, Gmail, Android, etc.) - with the exception of maps, which I'm still using on occasion via the PC without logging in (since I still haven't found an alternative with as many locations/buildings identified). I've also taken my calendar out of the cloud, opting for an A6-sized dot grid bullet journal instead. And I don't like my health info being in the cloud either.
I have both a Fitbit One and Charge 2. The Charge 2 I got (and will use) as a pebble - in a Fitbit Zip belt clip - as a backup for when/if the Fitbit One ever stops working or gets lost/broken. I don't care about the HR function, and the Charge 2 works fine on the belt or in a pocket for steps taken and floors climbed. (I already had wristwatches that work perfectly well). What I've done is make sure they're synced with the proper time and my desired features/settings, then pulled out the wireless USB dongle from my PC (and removed any Fitbit apps). At this point I can delete my account and data as well. Each evening I'll record the relevant info (steps, floors) from the Fitbit in my journal. I suppose I could also keep a spreadsheet as well if I got the urge to track a running total.
As long as the devices are charged up every few days, they should continue to work just fine without ever syncing again, and they're both smaller than any stand-alone pedometers that I've found.
